New to church

Welcome!

We are an informal and friendly local church located north of Basingstoke in the villages of Sherborne St John, Monk Sherborne, Pamber End and Pamber Green and in the new developments of Marnel Park, Merton Rise, Sherborne Fields and Nightingale View. Whether you've just moved into the area, or have lived here all your life, we hope our website helps you to find out everything you want to know about us.

Some key information about the church...

  • When & where does the church meet?
  • What should I expect when I visit the church?
  • What happens to the kids at church?
  • Is there a dress code?
  • Will I have to join in?
  • I have more questions, how can I get in touch and ask them?

Where & when does the church meet?

The main church meetings are at St. Andrews Church in Sherborne St John every Sunday morning at 10:00 am (with a focus on families and children),
In addition, services also take place in All Saints Monk Sherborne on the 2nd Sunday in the month, and Pamber Priory on the 4th Sunday in the month.  Both services are at 10am. - please see the calendar for details.

There is limited parking available at our church buildings. For St Andrews please check the calendar to see if we can use the Village Hall carpark opposite The Swan pub.

You can see a map of the location of church buildings on our contact us page.

What should I expect when I visit the church?

When we meet together as a church family we normally do a mix of the following, we will pray, we will hear the Bible read, we will sing together (including one children's song), someone will briefly speak to the children from the Bible, we will hear a sermon and, once a month, (generally the first Sunday at St Andrews), we will take communion. Our time together normally lasts for about an hour.

[Tea and coffee are served after the service where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions]

What happens for children during your services?

During our morning services, at St Andrew's, children stay with their parents for the first part of the service. This will normally include one short children's song and a short talk suitable for children. After this children in school years R to 6 will go to Sunday Club (Climbers and Explorers). There is also a creche for the pre-school children.  The classes meet in the school opposite the church entrance.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and dress as you want to.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all! You are free to simply observe or participate as much (or as little) as feels comfortable for you.

Facilities (St Andrew's)

  • Toilet facilities are available next to the kitchen which is at the front left of the church.

  • There are some blankets available if you require one.
  • The tower room, at the back of the church, may be used if you want to; for example, if you need to feed a baby or take a toddler away from the main congregation. There are a few toys suitable for babies and toddlers. The room has sound and a tv screen so that the service can be heard and seen.

We have more information for you specifically if you…
